Austin Motor Company

Austin Motor Company was a British car manufacturer. It was founded in 1905 and had its headquarters in Longbridge, England. In 1952 Austin merged with the Nuffield Organisation (owner of Morris) and formed the British Motor Corporation.
In the same year Austin started a co-operation with Donald Healey, which led to a seperate marque: Austin Healey.
Austin's corporate life after that was a turbulent one... it merged / was taken over several times and as a result was part of British Leyland, the Austin Rover Group and Rover Group plc (which collapsed in 2005) at some stage.
