Triumph Vitesse convertible
24/5/2012. Haynes Motor Museum Sparkford Somerset
YLR 34G 1970 Triumph Vitesse Convertible.
Harry Webster, Triumph's chief chassis designer, took one look at the newly opened M1 and decided that the Herald needed to go faster!!!
Thus was born the 2 litre 6 cylinder Vitesse.
Amongst other names it might have been "Star" or "Atom" but they finally decided on Vitesse a name that had been used before in the 1930's.
