I thin this is a Pontiac from immediately before World War II or shortly after (pre-1950) The stripes running from the front of the car to the windshield are a a Pontiac trademark from that era. However, the stripes are supposed to be chrome and additionally the grille is incorrect (looks more like a Mercury from the same era)and in my view what we have here is a modified vehicle which should perhaps be filed on the Hot Rods page.

Other contributors may be able to expand on or correct my thoughts.

It's a 1942 Pontiac

This Torpedo Sedan Coupe is indeed a 1942 Pontiac with a new grille, new "Fadeaway" Fenders and a 6 cyl or straight-8 Engine.
Price $950(6cyl)

After reading Roger's comment I took a look at photos of the '42 and I now realize my comment about the grille was incorrect. It is the proper grille so the photo belongs here and not on the hot rods page. (I still think the stripes should be chrome, though)
