Three different types were built between 1961 and 1974 in Coventry, England. I don't know which one this is though... Photo taken in Switzerland, 2009.

I think this is a Series 1, produced 1961-1968. It has glass covered headlights, a feature that was dropped with series 2.
This Jaguar E-type 3.8 Roadster, is identified by the position, of the orange and white, front indicator light casing,sitting on top of the front bumper bar,The Jaguar E-type S1 4.2 Roadster produced 1964-1968,the indicator light casing is positioned at the end of the front bumper bar, and two inches above the bumper bar,the other 3 E-type Jaguar models are coupes,or completely enclosed, not open as shown,The Jaguar E-type S1.5/S2 Roadster 1967-1970 has new style headlamps with no glass covers,there are 10 model E-type Jaguar models listed in my reference book
