JPR, founded in 1977, produces the Jaguar Type E (1961-75) as the Wildcat under a license from the British firm JPR. The car incorporates elements of the Ford Mustang produced in the years 1979-92. In 2003 the firm acquired the entire production of this model from JPR Cars in Great Britain. JPR acquired Gatsby Coachworks in California in December 1997, a company that had promoted the famous neoclassic convertibles. The JPR Wildcat is a kit car design based on the looks of the legendary E-Type Jaguar. It was originally designed for Ford Cortina mechanicals, but can now be supplied to sit on Ford Sierra or Jaguar XJ6 running gear. Almost any engine can be fitted but Ford Pintos and Rover V8s are the usual choices although the club has a smattering of Datsun, Ford Cosworth, Jaguar etc. JPR was based at the Goodwood Motor Racing Circuit in West Sussex and started trading in the mid eighties.
