1965 AC Cobra

24/5/2012. Haynes Motor Museum Sparkford Somerset.

FYW 96C 1965 AC Cobra.

I thought it was time to take a little dip into the "Red Room" just as a fore taste of what is to come.
The lightweight aluminium bodied Cobra was conceived by Carroll Shelby when he saw how much space there was under the bonnet of an AC Ace.
A little bit of shoe horning and an American V8 went under the bonnet of a developed Ace.
The result was shattering acceleration and a top speed of approx 165mph.
Perhaps the ultimate 2 seat sports.
